Hackney City Farm Our Roots has been supported by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to create this website with the help of many volunteers.

This project at Hackney City Farm, has also given photographs and information about its history to Hackney Archives. A map of the heritage at Hackney City Farm (1A Goldsmiths Row, London E2 8QA) was made during this project.

Volunteers have worked for seven months selecting photographs, notebooks, interviews, slides and posters from the Farm cellars. There are some photographs and information on this website. Our Heritage Roots collection at Hackney Archives can be visited.

Pig Pen Office meeting, sketch by Charlotte Anderson

Hackney City Farm was set up by volunteers in 1984 to provide a community learning and leisure resource on farming and the countryside.

In 2014 the Farm celebrated its 30th Birthday. We found many photographs and written history about the Farm. We wanted people to see this evidence. The Heritage Lottery Fund gave us some money to share this heritage.
