The following photographs of West’s Brewery are taken from an album given by the firms last owner, Major E.J. West, to each of his three children.
The first illustration shows, from right to left, Major West and his two sons, C.B. West and
R.E. West. C.B. West died just two years after the brewery closed and the album was passed on to his son, M.J. West, who has kindly allowed the Society to publish a selection of the pictures. According to the latest edition of the Society’s A Century of British Brewers the firm was located at the Three Crowns Brewery, 313/315 Hackney Road, Bethnal Green, London. It was registered in 1895, although the album indicates that the brewery was established in 1822. Hoare & Co. Ltd. acquired the firm in November 1929, with over 60 public houses, and closed it a few months later.
